Darkness has always been the benefactor of cats- their ability to see through it, their ability to use it as a cloak has always been present, always a gift from a higher power above even StarClan. ShadowClan was the master of this element, yet all cats looked to the shadows for answers, for safety, for refuge. And for power.
Power has always been a temptation, one which would inevitably be coveted by someone, for that is the nature of power. For years, it has been a secret of the medicine cats, in their blood since the time of Shadow, Sky, Thunder, River, and Wind- the prophecy, always given by a black cat, her essence that of shadow, promising great power for all of Felidae if one were to take the throne of leader from all five clans and obey the shadows, a clean start, one which would be different and in the favor of Felidae. Naturally, as it has always been and always would be, a cat would take this offer, this start.
Her name was lost in history, but she was a cat of SkyClan, bitter over their exile despite the ages which had passed. She had long ago chosen the path of healing by the time this black cat had spoken to her, and successfully conquered every clan, including her own and those four far away. Before them, the rage of a powerful being who could only be a deity was exacted upon the world, the twolegs annihilated in her presence, and the cats from all walks of life were changed, altered, became powerful.
The five clans watched as the SkyClan she-cat was murdered, and her blood ran into the ground, nourishing the soil for a beautiful change which sprouted amongst the cats. Beautiful plants, trees, and herbs sprouted, shimmering lakes and rivers appeared, soil was made fertile, and the world was reborn around all of the animals by its shadowy creator, who later became known as Nyx. The world was a virgin once more, new and unexplored. New creatures came on behalf of the creator, and new forces shaped the world.
Changes were brought upon more than the environment. The clans were born anew, all five. Boundaries were vanquished and then built once more by five completely new clans- FallenClan, GladeClan, StormClan, StoneClan, and ThornClan. FallenClan was a gentle clan, who preferred not to stick their nodes where they didn't belong, but were vicious when angered. GladeClan was curious, and often discovered much, but endangered themselves more. StormClan cats were sensible and brave, but often too bold. StoneClan was powerful but very arrogant, believing themselves to be superior. And finally, ThornClan was a hot-tempered clan, stubborn and independent.
Powers sprouted up. FallenClan discovered the power of flight, and developed wings to proudly survey their territory. GladeClan meddled in matters of general knowledge, and began learning the secrets of magic. StormClan discovered shapeshifting, to battle their enemies in many forms. StoneClan cats focused in elemental control, particularly ice, water, fire, earth, and on occasion air, but sometimes more. ThornClan often found themselves masters of illusion, capable of producing things so lifelike, powerful warriors could create physical things when they set their minds to it.
And of course, with power comes a price.
